I listen to all kinds of guitar music and teach a wide variety of styles including, for example:
- Fingerstyle etc.
These are pretty broad categories and there are many different types of music lumped together in say, 'Rock, or 'Blues' etc. However, there are several basic finger technique that are common to most styles. So the good news is that, if you are just starting out, whilst you are working on these basic techniques you are preparing the groundwork to take your playing into a variety of directions.
Whatever your preferred type of music there is a lot to be learned from listening to guitarist of all styles and the music world becomes all the richer from borrowing techniques and ideas from other genres.
